Holly Houghton
Holly joined Purcell as a Heritage Consultant in 2024 after working as a Conservation Officer for Herefordshire Council in the West Midlands. She has an extensive knowledge of the legislative background that underpins the planning system regarding the built historic environment and an understanding of the role local authorities play in the decision-making process.
Holly’s background is in literature, with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of London, and an IHBC accredited master’s degree in Conservation of Historic Buildings from the University of York. She is passionate about discovering the stories of historic places and finding the best way to tell those stories in an engaging and accessible way. She is particularly interested in the sustainable development of disused historic spaces through reuse and adaptation to preserve their significance for future generations.
Holly is skilled at communicating complex and sensitive information to a range of audiences and for a variety of purposes. She is experienced with a broad scope of projects, including Heritage Impact Assessments, Historic Building Recordings, and Conservation Management Plans, across sectors including cultural, private residential, and hospitality.
