NSW Parliament Chambers wins National Trust Heritage Award
We’re delighted to share that our work on the NSW Parliament House Chambers Restoration Project has won best Interiors & Objects at this year’s National Trust (NSW) Heritage Awards; an annual celebration of outstanding practice, awarding excellence in conservation of Aboriginal, built, natural and cultural heritage.
NSW Parliament House is part of one of the most historic precincts in Australia. The Chambers Project aimed at preserving and upgrading both the 1843 Legislative Assembly and 1856 Legislative Council Chambers. Under our guidance as Heritage Architect and Lead Consultant, and in collaboration with International Conservation Services and Steenson Varming, we managed mechanical, electrical, specialist lighting, materials conservation, and accessibility aspects of the restoration. A detailed exploration of materials, colours, and supplier specifications ensured consistency and authenticity throughout the process.
In addition to the above win, our work on the NSW Parliament Facade Project, that saw us lead critical maintenance work and a review of the buildings colour scheme, was shortlisted for a Built Conservation Award.
