In the press: England's Windsor Castle's renewed splendour revealed

Purcell’s central role as architects for a substantial programme of improvements at Windsor Castle, UK are detailed in an extended feature in Country Life Magazine. The Future Programme, which was approved by the late Queen of England and then Prince of Wales, now King Charles III of England, was initially conceived by Sir Hugh Roberts in 2016, with a view to enhancing the historic State Apartments and modernising visitor facilities, upgrading accessibility throughout the public areas. Purcell’s work has brought renewed clarity to the visitor entrance to the State Apartments which now opens onto the reconstituted Inner Hall, and is as close as possible to the original Wyatt design. The new route is enhanced with dramatic lighting and new Gothic lanterns.  Converting Edward III’s vaulted wine cellar into The Undercroft Café is a major addition to the visitor facilities. The cellar had been badly damaged by water during the 1992 fire making way for this transformation which has restored the medieval floor level by removing a deep raft of concrete infill.  

The tourist entrance at St Alban’s Street has been expanded and enhanced to incorporate a separate school’s entrance which leads directly into the new Clore Duffield and Wolfson sponsored Learning Centre in Pug Yard, providing educational facilities for schools and community groups.
